I was at the Green Turtle watching the Denver Broncos play on a Sunday the fall of 2001 with my friend
Nicole. While watching the game we met this guy (he would like to remain unknown) and we struck up a conversation and talked
until the football games were over. Before we left, we all swapped phone numbers and e-mail information. This guy (we will
call him Mr.. Smith) and I had e-mailed each other a few times back and forth on a friendly note. About 2 weeks later Thanksgiving
weekend had arrived and I wanted to host it in my new home. My mother, her significant other and a few others arrived for
the special occasion. Since it was Thanksgiving weekend, my mother decided to stay through Saturday. So Friday, she went running
around Maryland doing fun things, while I headed off to work. I promised them I would meet up with them at Rams Head Savage
Mill for Happy Hour later that day. While at work, "Mr.. Smith" and I had been e-mailing each other. Told him I was meeting
my mother at Rams head for Happy Hour. "Mr.. Smith" said he was heading up there as well to meet a friend and that he would
see me up there.
I made my journey to Rams Head when I was finished work and arrived around 5:15 to find nobody in
the bar except for "Mr.. Smith" and his friend. So I walked over to say hello. "Mr.. Smith" failed to tell me how attractive
his single friend was!!!!! Mr.. Smith introduced us, his name was Dave, and my how breathtaking his eyes bright blue eyes
were!!! We talked for a few moments until my mom arrived. My mom and I took a booth near the pool table where Mr.. Smith and
Dave were playing.
The bar was slowly taking on more customers, so I guess Dave thought it would be ok to try and catch a
few glimpses of me. Little did he know, my mother was watching his every move!!! My mom kept saying "that handsome blonde
keeps looking at you!" We moved tables to a small round one in the center of the bar to make it easier for him approach me,
and for me to approach him :). As the night went on, we kept taking turns trying to look at each other without getting caught.
We spoke a few times and had a good conversation. So when the night was coming to an end, my mom saw what was going on and
couldn't let this go untouched. She took a napkin and a pen and wrote my phone number down, slid it across the table and said,
"go give this to him". I gave her a blank look wondering why my mom was trying to give out my phone number. She gave me that
motherly look and I realized I had better do what she says. So I cornered him as he was exiting the men's room. I don't recall
what I said to him, but what it was, it must have worked because he called me. We went out that following night and could
not stop talking, we had such a good time with not one dull moment. Ever since that day, we have pretty much been inseparable,
seeing each other almost everyday. We both knew we were each others soul mates and we would forever be inseparable.
I
remember telling my mom that night that the age 27 was going to be a good year (I had turned 27 a few days prior), I never
imagined that not only would 27 be a good year, but that the rest of my life would be filled with wonderful years.
