As some of you know, I never went to my high school prom, but have always wished I had gone for the experience. Well,
I finally had my wish come true over the weekend. Dave, the wonderful man that he is, contacted his high school, Francis Scot
Key, in Carroll County Maryland and asked the principle if we would be able to attend the Senior Prom this year. The principle
thought it was a little odd that a 28 year old was asking if he could come back 10 years later to attend a prom. Dave explained
the story about me and that I really wanted the experience. So the principle had to do a "background" check on Dave. He sent
out an e-mail to the teachers that were still there from when Dave attend and questioned Dave's past at the school. Thank
goodness he was not a trouble maker!!!!! The principle called him and told him that would be fine, but that we had to go as
chaperones.....not a big deal!!! So off to the stores I go to find that perfect dress. I bought a dress a week later with
the help of my good friend Erica. We went through every dress we could find and found a beautiful long dress. However, Erica
was in search of a dress for herself to attend an evening wedding reception. Being the big shopper she is, she ended up at
Macy's a week later. Standing in the juniors department she calls me and tells me I HAVE to come to Macy's and see the dresses
because she really needed my advice and that I may something better as well. So off to Macy's I go. 3 hours, and what seemed
like 50 dresses later, we both found the perfect dress we were looking for. (And Erica even found shoes that matched my dress
perfectly!!!)
Friday May 30 finally arrives. I left work around 1:00 and headed home to finish packing for the weekend ahead. Dave
had made reservations at a Bed and Breakfast in Gettysburg, which was the town where the Prom was held. Since Prom was not
until Saturday evening we spent Friday and Saturday walking around the battlefield. Saturday we arrived back to our room around
2:00 and began getting ready. My mom arrived around 3:45, just in time to help me with my dress!!!! She had wanted to come
down and take pictures of her daughter going to the high school prom!!! After pictures, Dave and I headed to the restaurant.
As we were being seated, there were many eyes on us. I could see why...2 adults dressed for a Prom?????? It was very interesting
watching the high school students that chose the Dobbin House to have their dinner. Some were giggly, some were quiet, and
some tried their hardest to be as classy as they could. After dinner, it was time to head to the prom.

We arrived around 8:00 and Dave took me around to introduce his girlfriend to all the teachers he knew from when he was
a student at the school. We watched the students enjoy their time. I enjoyed watching the students. It was nice to see the
different personalities come through in their attire. As the evening progressed Dave and I were able to get a few slow dances
in. Dave had even requested to the DJ that they play our song..."Good Morning Beautiful" by Steve Holy. There we were out
on the dance floor amongst some amazingly well behaved teenagers!!! About halfway through our song Dave stopped and asked
me close my eyes. I had them closed for what seemed an eternity!!!! When he said I could open them, I found Dave down on one
knee asking me, "Will you marry me?". The words I have been waiting to so long to hear.... I took a slight pause, made sure
I wasn't dreaming, and said yes. He slid his enhanced Great Grandmothers ring onto my finger, stood up, kissed me, then hugged
me and lifted me into the air. (I don't think my feet are back on the ground yet!!!) For all the students that witnessed this,
clapped and cheered for us. We even had one student dart across the floor to ask us if we went to school there!!!!
